FAQ

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll post them here:

Will I need long hair to be in Pride and Prejudice?

Long hair is good, but supplying your own hair piece is good, too.  You don't need long hair to audition, but you may need to be willing to grow it out.

Should I come in Regency dress to the audition?

It's not considered professional; it won't help you get a part; and wearing a Regency dress can make it a bit tricky to do audition games and exercises.

Can I get my hair cut during the weeks of rehearsal?

That's a good one to check out with the director before heading for the scissors (please, no clippers!).  You will need to look like you're from 1809 and not 2009.

Will I really need to look like I'm from 1809?  Why?

No.  Because that's not when P&P was published.

You will need to look like you're from 1811.

Will I need to speak with an English accent?

Yes!  You can demonstrate it in your audition, but we'll work on it in rehearsals as well.

Besides Mrs. Bennet, are there other female roles that the "the maturing actress" might be able to play?

Yes! Lady Catherine de Bourgh, Lady Lucas, Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Reynolds and Mrs. Younge - besides Mrs. Bennet.

What vocal range would these older female characters need to sing?

There is room for both sopranos and altos in the Ensemble numbers.

Is this a 'closed audition' or can I send out audition info to my friends?

Send the info to everyone you know! and remember to tell them they need an appointment.
